FAQ

Common Questions

Gratuity for government employees is calculated as: (Last Basic Pay + DA) × Years of Service × 1/4. For central government employees, the maximum gratuity is capped at ₹20 lakh. Private sector employees follow the Payment of Gratuity Act formula: (Last drawn salary × 15 × Years of service) / 26.
The fitment factor is the multiplier used to revise salaries under a Pay Commission. The 7th CPC used 2.57. Unions are currently demanding factors between 2.86 and 4.38 for the 8th CPC. No official factor has been announced yet — the Commission is in its consultation phase as of mid-2026.
Under the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), pension is 50% of last drawn basic pay after a minimum of 10 years of qualifying service. Under the National Pension System (NPS), pension depends on your accumulated corpus and market returns. Our pension calculator gives you an estimate based on your inputs.
EPF withdrawal is tax-free if you have completed 5 years of continuous service. After retirement at age 58 or later, the full EPF corpus including interest is exempt from tax, provided the 5-year condition is met.
